AI Safety Aotearoa is an independent advocacy initiative based in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
What information we collect
Mailing list If you subscribe to our mailing list, we collect your email address. This is stored securely with Resend (resend.com), our email delivery provider. We use it only to send you updates about AI safety in Aotearoa. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send you.
Contact and Get Involved forms If you contact us via our website forms, we collect your name, email address, and message. This information is transmitted via Resend and delivered to our inbox. We do not store form submissions in our database beyond what is necessary to respond to you.
Website analytics We use Google Analytics 4 to collect aggregate data about how visitors use our site, including pages visited, time on site, and general location. This data is anonymised and used only to improve our content. You can opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Server logs Our hosting provider may automatically collect standard server log data including IP addresses and browser information. This data is used for security and performance monitoring only.
What we do not collect
We do not run advertising. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Cookies
Our site uses cookies set by WordPress for logged-in administrators only. If you are a regular visitor and not logged in, no persistent cookies are set by us. Google Analytics sets its own cookies – see Google’s privacy policy for details.
Third parties
Our site may link to or embed content from external sources, including YouTube. Embedded content from other websites behaves as if you have visited that website directly and may collect data about you independently.
Your rights
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to request corrections. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@aisafetyaotearoa.org.
Data retention
Mailing list subscribers are retained until you unsubscribe. Contact form submissions are retained only as long as necessary to respond. Analytics data is retained per Google’s standard retention settings.
